Care of the Client with Arthritis

This course enhances the care of clients who have been diagnosed with arthritis by helping them recognize and respond to signs and symptoms of this disease. It also provides arthritis-specific comfort and care measures. The course includes four modules:

  • Module 1: Gain basic knowledge of arthritis, its risk factors and signs and symptoms, including the warning signs that warrant medical care.
  • Module 2: Learn about the most common types of arthritis and how they are diagnosed.
  • Module 3: Learn about the medications and their side effects, medical treatments and therapies, and alternative medicines used to treat arthritis.
  • Module 4: Learn how to determine effective comfort and care measures for clients with arthritis and their family caregivers, including lifestyle changes and warning signs to watch for.

Approved for 8 clock hours of continuing education to meet the Medicare home health aide yearly education requirements.

Approved for 8 hours by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to meet CE requirements for long term care workers. For more information, visit the DSHS website.
