Care of the Client with Diabetes

This course will enhance care of chronically ill clients by helping recognize and respond to signs of diabetes, and provide diabetes-specific comfort and care measures to clients. The course includes four modules.

  • Module 1: Gain a general understanding of what diabetes is and its different types.
  • Module 2: Learn about pre-diabetes to more effectively intervene with clients to prevent pre-diabetes related crises.
  • Module 3: Learn the causes and treatments of Type 1 diabetes, along with how to identify red flags associated with this form of the disease and care and comfort measures.
  • Module 4: Learn about Type 2 diabetes, its causes and treatments, the red flags associated with it and care and comfort measures.

Approved for 8 clock hours of continuing education to meet the Medicare home health aide yearly education requirements.

Approved for 8 hours by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to meet CE requirements for long term care workers. For more information, visit the DSHS website.
